New year, new blog!

Welcome to my monthly blogs! I wanted to start monthly blogging so that I can share what I’ve been up to and what I’ve got planned for Megan Stokes Illustration. I hope that this can be your 2 minute read every month about all things illustration!

So last year was my first full year out of education and running Megan Stokes Illustration alongside a full time job! To be honest, when I started working full time, I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with my illustration work. But I’ve enjoyed the freedom working full time has given my business allowing me to create what I want to create - and that was exactly what 2019 was all about for me!

In 2019, I progressed with selling my products at local craft markets by introducing new products, making my stall more professional, and seeking new craft fairs for me to trade at.

I also had my first my first big scale commission from Scouts! This was to create an activity work book for children about their local waterways and ideas to help protect them. It was really fun to create a whole collection of illustrations that completed a final product.

Towards the end of the year, I also started working on my first window painting commission - which made the local press! This was for a project that is very important to me, all about supporting small businesses. #ShopLocal #SupportLocal was a project created in collaboration with Horticultural Wales.

Whilst it is important to pat yourself on the back for 2019, I enjoy the new year as it’s a chance to look forward and make this year better than the last!

I have some exciting plans for 2020 which I can’t wait to show you when they become a reality. I’d love to hear your grand plans for 2020!
